Quality Control Technician (HACCP/BAP)
The QC Technician is responsible for the quality and safety of the products. The QC/ Tech must ensure compliance of products with specification, as well as personnel in their area for compliance in GMP’s. This position is responsible for providing constant training to factory personnel and interacts with the departments of Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Warehousing.
Key Duties:
- Assist the fish processing facility team to maintain all Food Safety programs
- Review all Critical Control Point (CCP) monitoring and verification records to ensure compliance with Seafood HACCP critical limits and frequencies, as required by the Seafood HACCP plan.
- BAP Coordinator
- Good Manufacturing Practices inspections and corrective action coordination
- Assist with developing processes and procedures as needed, to improve food safety and quality
- Analyze processes, identify trends and anomalies, and continuously evaluate plant programs for improvement
- Ensure all food safety-related documents and records are controlled and that current issues are in use
- Organize all food safety and quality documentation and assist with audit preparation
- Train team on GMP’s and other related policies and procedures
- Collect samples of various areas throughout the facility and submission for microbial testing and evaluation at contract labs.
- Data entry into various systems and spreadsheets for QC program reporting.
- Perform daily equipment calibration.
- Carries out routine inspections/observations throughout the facility, document the findings and corrective actions, and issue maintenance/safety tags where needed.
- Informs the Quality Control team of significant issues or developments identified during regular work.
- Keep track of frozen inventory
Requirements:
- With HACCP Certification, preferably Seafood HACCP
- Knowledge of Food Safety and quality programs
- With experience in preparing & handling audits
- Minimum 2 years related QC experience in the food industry, preferably in the seafood industry.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Computer skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Able to work independently as well as in a team
- Authorized to work in the United States
Physical Demands:
- Able to work in a hot & cold environment of the warehouse, freezer, and storage.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
Education:
- High school diploma, bachelor’s degree is a plus
