Job Summary

The Purchasing Associate will assist in all areas of purchasing and procurement including but not limited to RFQs, creation and placement of purchase orders, analysis and negotiation with vendors, in order to provide the tools necessary for the facility to function at maximum efficiency and with maximum revenue.

This position will report to the Metal Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Issues RFQs and assist in negotiating vendor pricing and credit terms given the required volume, delivery and service requirements for goods and services within established guidelines Responsible for efficient, cost-effective purchasing of, and timely delivery of, products and services Operates within local purchasing policies Assists in the evaluation of existing and future vendors for reliability and to promote a competitive atmosphere Maintain all supply chain reports Keep adequate inventory stocked Respond to internal/external customer inquiries in a timely manner Respond to product quality issues and related problems as necessary and assist team in solving quality assurance issues Ability to work independently and effectively to meet timely deadlines while conducting all duties in a professional and ethical manner in accordance with the company’s code of business conducts policy Collect packing slips and receivers for each purchase order and submit to A/P in the correct accounting month Oversee and analyze monthly physical inventory.

Other job duties as assigned Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job.

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

To be considered for a Purchasing Associate position, the following conditions must be met:
At least 1-year experience in purchasing/procurement of materials or services Manufacturing purchasing experience is preferred, but not required At least 1-year experience in evaluating and sourcing vendors and making cost reductions preferred, but not required Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels in the organization and external contacts Intermediate skills in MS Office Excel and Word
