Psychiatrist Duties and Responsibilities:Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services, the Psychiatrist:Evaluates patients through conversations, interviews, and observationsRequests testing/lab work; analyzes patient data and resultsDiagnoses patients using the DSM-5 and participates in consultations with Therapists about patients diagnosesDevelops and implements appropriate treatment plan goals with patientsAnalyzes the best medications or therapy to help patients reach goalsPrescribes medications and monitors patients medication complianceMaintains appropriate patient records by entering progress, symptoms, medications, and treatments into the electronic health record (EXYM)Counsels patients and listens to their reactions to treatmentEducates patients and relevant parties of patients progress, treatment, and future goalsWorks in collaboration with Therapists and Case Managers to determine the best course of treatment for patientsProvides crisis intervention, as neededPerforms other duties as assignedPsychiatrist Requirements and QualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)Successful completion of U.S.
Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX-USA)Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; local state regulations and certifications, Continuing Medical Education (CME), and Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations requirements must be metMedical malpractice insurance requiredProficient computer skillsKnowledge of DMH billing guidelines and documentationAble to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently as demonstrated by 24-hour turnaround time for submission of clinical documentationKnowledge of mandated reporting guidelines and HIPAAExcellent verbal and written communication skillsGreat interpersonal relations, communications, and demeanorExperience using EXYM
