Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. We are looking for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC fights for justice for low-income tenants, working-poor families, people experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV/AIDS, people living with disabilities, and homeless veterans.
Position Description: ICLC seeks a talented 2020 law school graduate to join our team of lawyers, paralegals, and organizers as a full-time Provisionally Licensed Lawyer (PLL). The team uses sophisticated plaintiff’s litigation techniques to address housing-related health hazards, preserve affordable housing, improve unhealthful conditions, protect residents from landlord retaliation, and, when appropriate, recover financial damages. With the anticipated increase in complaints of unsafe conditions and retaliation by property owners, the PLL will be trained and provided opportunities to participate in client interviews, deposition and hearing preparation, legal research, discovery, drafting of pleadings, court appearances, and will work closely with pro bono co-counsel. The PLL will work on all aspects of the cases under close supervision of an experienced attorney.
At this time, the work is remote with possibly occasional onsite requirements. This position will be required to serve a probationary period.
Hiring Criteria: Commitment to ICLC’s mission and values. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to assume responsibility quickly and ability to work closely with a team including the Director of Litigation, staff attorneys, paralegals, organizers and administrative personnel. Ability to use good judgment, multi-task, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated commitment to working with low-income communities.
Compensation: Salary ranges from $65,000 – $80,000, depending on experience. Excellent benefits.
How to Apply: The position is for 1 year and will be filled as soon as possible, with a start date of no later than July 21, 2021. Interested individuals should send a cover letter, resume, transcript, and two references to https://innercitylaw.org/join-our-team/. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until July 15, 2021.

Type: Full-time.
