Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Engineer and Project Manager to join our Industrial Infrastructure and Water for Industry team in Los Angeles, CA.

As a Project Engineer, you will lead interdisciplinary Industrial Infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality detailed designs and constructed projects to our clients.

Our current portfolio of growth opportunities falls within our Water for Industry practice, so an advanced understanding of the industrial water and wastewater field is a prerequisite. 

Arcadis offers global communities of practice to support technical aspects of this role and strong client-focused leadership teams to advance pursuits and capture opportunities. The successful candidate will be in position to add significant value to the business and be part of a strategic growth area for Arcadis North America. 

Role accountabilities:

  • Managing design and regulatory projects; including project planning, budgeting, schedule monitoring, and managing project controls
  • Preparing engineering proposals, including the development of scopes of work, assessing commercial terms & conditions, and assembling fee estimates and schedules
  • Reviewing and assisting with the development of design calculations, technical reports, permitting, detailed design and engineering plans and specifications, as well as construction administration for a variety of projects
  • Leading client meetings, preparing teams for client meetings, and documenting meeting outcomes
  • Managing conflicts inherent in engineering design projects, including balancing the demands of scope, schedule, budget, and regulatory requirements as well as multiple stakeholders
  • Working effectively and collaboratively in team situations and establishing strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists
  • Researching feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications
  • Mentoring junior level staff in design and client management
  • Traveling, sometimes on an extended basis, as needed (potential international travel)

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience with industrial wastewater, facility infrastructure design, and other industrial planning, design, and construction engineering activities
  • Experience with NPDES permitting and related regulatory programs
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; skills to include
    – public speaking, ability to communicate effectively as part of a team, preparation/development of technical documents, and prior client involvemen
  • Experience with AutoCAD, BIM 360, and/or Primavera scheduling software  

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field
  • EIT Certificate
  • 7 years of design and engineering experience with industrial infrastructure and water projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering or related field
  • Broad experience in environmental permitting, including NPDES, RCRA, and TSCA
  • PE license
