The Chute Laboratory within Cedars Sinai Cancer Center and the Regenerative Medicine Institute is recruiting a Project Scientist to join the Chute Laboratory. The Project Scientist will work independently and under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator, Dr. John Chute, to make significant and creative contributions to research within the Chute laboratory, which focuses on hematopoietic stem cell biology and the stem cell niche. Project Scientists do not have teaching responsibilities, but will be expected to perform high-level research that contributes to scientific publications, grant development and innovation in the field of stem cell biology and hematology.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- May assist in preparation of grant proposals, submissions, and presentations but is not responsible for generating grant funds
- May serve as PI for certain grants as approved by Principal Investigator
- May participate in publications and presentations as first author or co-author
- May develop, adapt and implement new research techniques and protocols
- Performs innovative and important lab experiments in the Chute lab
- Analyzes, interprets, summarizes and compiles data
- May lead or mentor Staff Research Associates and Research Fellows
- Will assist in day-to-day laboratory activities
- Appointees on an academic trajectory will be expected to commit a portion of their time to developing an independent range of research
Education:
- PhD or highest degree in their field
Experience:

Completion of Ph.D. or postdoctoral appointment in area of specialization, as applicable

Knowledge of PI’s area of research specialization

Demonstrated technical competency in a variety of research techniques and protocols
Physical Demands: Able to perform moderate lifting. Able to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Able to read papers and online documents. Able to operate standard office equipment. Able to exercise physical ability and perspective acuity to satisfactorily perform essential job functions.
