Project Engineer I

Job Description We are looking for a dedicated project engineer to assist with the scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing, and managing of technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality. The Project Engineer is responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines of ongoing projects and will establish inspection criteria for the proper implementation of all the elements of a project. To be a successful Project Engineer, you should have the ability to work with multiple discipline projects and demonstrate excellent project management and supervision skills. You should also have excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills. Responsibilities: Applies sound engineering knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of project assignments. Coordinates and directs development of work scope, budget, and schedule for projects and tasks. Coordinates input from, and participation with, various departments within the company as needed to meet project objectives. Follow up on implementation of recommendations and/or acceptance of conclusions to assess accuracy and/or completeness. Manage and coordinate all activities leading to the successful completion of tasks and projects including, scoping of project, cost estimates, budgeting, design, and start-up. Development or improvement of program processes. Interpret state and federal codes, industry standards and specifications for customers and internal clients. Developing contacts with key engineers and officials in other organizations to confirm that engineering practices applied are consistent with current engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and current technological innovations. Providing input to Project Managers and Senior Leadership concerning potential process and design improvements related to engineering design and technology. Following systems of quality control and checking on all projects assigned. Developing and maintaining quality relationships with clients. Maintaining a collaborative spirit in working within the Business Unit and with other Business Units providing the most optimum project team for projects often using personnel from multiple Business Units. Assists Project Managers during the preparation and review of engineering designs, specifications, standards, studies, cost estimates, and the development of sound technical recommendations, in support of projects and tasks managed by others. Applies a high level of technical expertise to solve operational problems identified by staff. Coordinates and/or directs small projects and tasks, including the development of work scope, budget, and schedule. Coordinates input from and participates with various departments within the company as needed to meet project objectives. Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary Required Qualifications: B.S. in Engineering required. Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification desired. 2-3 years of previous related engineering experience required. Requires knowledge of engineering practices and concepts, cost analysis, and applicable policies. Coordinates the activities of, and has overall responsibility for, multiple, concurrent projects and/or tasks, which require the ability to plan and manage workload so that assignments are completed on time and in proper priority. Must possess the ability to review problems and propose innovative solutions, which involve technical, operational, and economic issues, and may link new concepts and technologies. Ability to provide direction and guidance to fellow engineers. Must be able to determine project requirements and the resources required and assign tasks to team members. Utilize departmental control system and maintain budget and schedule to ensure successful completion of the project or task. Requires ability to identify the potential financial implications, as well as the impact that the project or task has on existing company programs and procedures. Understanding of systematic/scientific approaches to problem-solving, and the ability to apply them in daily operations. Apply engineering/technical principles to analyze and resolve problems. Must possess the ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication. Must clearly and concisely communicate technical and non-technical information and concepts with various levels of management in both formal and informal settings. Moderate to advance computer knowledge. Knowledge of spreadsheets and database analysis tools.
