Project Engineer

Basic Function

The Project Engineer is the primary technical point of contact for the customer. Your primary objective is to follow a project through conception, design, NPI, and production. A project engineer’s responsibilities include schedule preparation, pre-planning and resource forecasting for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project.

Job Responsibilities – Other duties may be assigned

  • Determines the technical requirements of a project by identifying project phases and elements.
  • Develop and manage packaging procedures and processes via creation of design rules and guidelines that meet the customers’ needs for budget, quality, and timing.
  • Align sales, engineering, and suppliers around design trade-offs, requirements, manufacturing, tests, and validation plans for successful on-time launches.
  • Analyzes, red-lines, and approves technical drawings for production approval.
  • Handles corrective action (CAPA’s) cases quickly and diligently to provide excellent customer service.
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
  • Confirms product performance by developing standards, tests, and first article inspection reports.
  • Determines project schedule with project manager by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information while recommending actions.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Drive innovative projects through to completion, bring innovative concepts/ideas to the innovation team.

Qualifications / Education and/or Experience:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Packaging Engineering from an accredited university/college
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently under a small amount of supervision
  • Typical requirements: Analysis, Design Skills, Project Management, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision, CAD
  • Familiarity with measurement systems, assembly tolerance stack-up, tooling qualification procedures, and AQL Inspection procedures in mass manufacturing
  • Creativity/Problem Solving Skills
  • Fluency in Mandarin or Korean a plus
