WHO WE ARE: Thursday’s Child & AIDS Healthcare Foundation Does the idea of doing something that really makes a difference in people’s lives while being well-compensated intrigue you?

Are you looking to work for an organization that encourages growth and success from each and every one of its employees?

If so, Thursday’s Child is the place for you Founded in 1989, we began as advocates with a message to be heard: Persons Living with HIV and AIDS who had few resources and demanded to be treated with dignity.

Our name comes from the anonymous, well-known 19th century poem about children born on each day of the week.

‘Thursday’s Child as far to go.’ The name spoke of hope and promise during times when there was little of either.

We began as advocates and started the region’s first independent HIV housing program.

Today, an HIV diagnosis is a manageable chronic condition.

HIV testing is the first step all should take: knowing one’s HIV status can make the difference between life and death.

Those who know their status is positive can be linked to care and live a long and prosperous life; not knowing can lead to serious illness, even death.

Today, Thursday’s Child keeps its promise of going farther; we now offer various programs to support better health outcomes, provide for humane and essential needs, and continues its work to end the HIV/AIDS crisis.

Benefits of Thursday’s Child Thursday’s Child offers comprehensive benefits to help our employees do and be their very best These benefits are intended to enhance employee physical, financial, spiritual, and professional health.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO OUR SUCCESS: The Program Specialist will conduct rapid HIV testing and provide Ryan White services, in order to meet the goals of Testing as Prevention and Early Intervention Service programs.

The goal of these programs is to reduce new transmissions and optimize individual health outcomes for People Living with HIV/AIDS.

This is a key initiative to ending the epidemic because the vast majority of new HIV cases occur when someone is unaware of their status.

Though this program, individuals will learn their HIV status and become informed about their options to take charge of their health.

The Program Specialist will conduct HIV testing in the office and community settings in order to identify and inform those who are HIV but unaware of their status.

For those who test positive, the Program Specialist will enroll the client in Early Intervention Services for linkage to medical care and additional supportive services.

The critical services that the Program Specialist will provide includes a thorough assessment and creation of individualized service plans in order to address barriers to care.

The goal is to ensure access to life-saving HIV care and treatment is achieved and maintained.

The Program Specialist will take great care that all services are provided with respect and sensitivity to the uniqueness of each individual and their particular needs.

The Program Specialist works to ensure the quality provision of services and to meet the program’s objectives.

The prevention component of the program emphasizes routine testing for everyone and aims to reduce the impact of stigma.

The Program Specialist will help community members become aware of PrEP as a prevention option as well as the positive individual and public health benefits of “UU” (undetectable is un-transmittable).

The Program Specialist will engage with key community demographics in order that these goals are met for both prevention and treatment.
