Product and Zero Waste Specialist – Vegware

Summary of Position
The Product and Zero Waste Specialist is responsible for driving Zero Waste success for Vegware customers by building relationships with haulers, composters, and our sustainability minded customers.
Additionally, the Product and Zero Waste Operator Specialist will support our world class sales team to identify sales opportunities of the Vegware line of environmentally preferable disposable foodservice products, and work with customers on their Zero Waste journey through consulting and support.
This position will serve as a “consultant” to our team and our customer base with a focus on Zero Waste operators and direct-sales accounts (i.e.
stadiums, corporate campus’s and universities, etc.).
This is a home based position.
Job Specifications
* Work alongside Sales Managers, Sustainability Manager, brokers, distributor representatives and Boulder corporate team to target and assist high volume accounts in the adoption of Zero Waste practices using Vegware disposables
* Based on customer region, develop a deep understanding of the local realities of composting and recycling in the region, including composter acceptance of compostable packaging
* Develop new customer relationships and grow existing operator purchases by selling a bundle of sustainable packaging and marketing services
* Make sales presentations to all customers on an agreed-upon and consistent basis
* General understanding of foodservice distribution and disposable markets
* Represent Vegware at foodservice and Zero Waste focused conferences and meetings
* With the assistance of the corporate team, develop a working knowledge of local and state policy to assist customers with compliance
* Work together with the broader Eco-Products Product and Zero Waste Specialist team to advance composter acceptance of compostable packaging and increase commercial composting infrastructure
* Willingness to travel, including overnight trips
* Based in the Western Region of the US
Responsibilities
* Keep informed on new products, pricing, and other general program and industry information
* Serve as a consultant to both prospects and clients looking to strengthen their commitment to sustainable packaging and Zero Waste goals, including implementation of waste diversion programs
* Work with and train sales brokers as needed, making joint sales calls on pre-approved operators
* Develop and expand relationships with compost manufacturers in the region, and drive forward increased acceptance of compostable foodservice packaging at compost operations
* Report monthly sales activities and pertinent matters to Sustainability Maven and Senior Director of Vegware US as needed
* Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, and product uses.
Provide basic product information and practical training to distribution personnel
* Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products, prices, and sales
* Create and present effective presentations that successfully communicates the Vegware value proposition and services as part of our category solution

Qualifications: Experience, Competencies and Education
* Ability to build strong relationships with all points of the customer base and across our stakeholders (composters, haulers, policy makers, procurement professional, etc)
* 2 or more years of work experience
* Ability to self-manage remotely including strong planning and time management skills
* Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
* Strong customer facing skills with emphasis to negotiate win/win situations
* Must be willing to work independently while also being a strong team player
* Demonstrate ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees
* Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values
* Base level understanding of sustainability and environmental topics
* Desired Education Level: BS/BA degree in relevant field
* Nice to have:
* 1-5 years of progressive sales experience preferably in the food service industry
* Preferred: Some level of knowledge of Zero Waste operations and organics recycling/composting in the region
* MBA and/or an advanced degree in Sustainability or related field a plus
Work Environment
This is a full time, exempt position.
Some weekend and evening work is required.
