We are seeking an experienced Composite Manufacturing Process Inspector to work at our state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville, AL, which will be our inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware.

Work schedule will be driven by unit operation requirements.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each): Composite Manufacturing Process Inspectors works within established proecedures to perform a wide variety of highly complex inspection and quality assurance tasks to produce high-quality products.

Typical tasks include but are not limited to: 60%
– Composite Manufacturing Inspection Process and Quality FacilitationUse CMM and other precision inspection techniques to inspect products, processes and procured items to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.Develop and execute audit plans to assure the processes are being followed, equipment is being maintained and calibrated and materials meet all requirements including shelf life.

Oversee various operations at once, ensuring process standardization via Process Variation Management including data collection, data interpretation and presentation to determine if processes are in control.Work with the operations team to ensure products meet specifications and schedule requirements.

Coordinate with the Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Engineers in operations to troubleshoot and recommend solutions for problems.Oversee and train on the use of various measuring devices; accept, reject, or rework defective or malfunctioning units or systems; work with diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, etc.; work from blueprints, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists; monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures; inspect customer-owned materials, hardware, etc.

– Process StandardizationEvaluate various similar processes within the shop and create standardized inspection methods and criteria to minimize error, mistake-proof processes and define standard work.Provide assistance in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process, collect data, conduct and oversee training, and/or assist in research work, exercising judgment to identify and recommend solutions where errors may be very difficult to detect and require significant expenditures to resolve.Troubleshoot processes and identify, modify and/or escalate out of control processes and production escapes.15%
– Facility SupportCoordinate with maintenance, supervision and/or operations team in the set-up and calibration of equipment and tooling.

Ensure that the calibrated items process is being followed and conduct periodic audits of facility areas.Participate in preventative maintenance activities.Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred plus one (1) years of related experience required.

Thorough knowledge and full understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing systems (GD) strongly desired.Extensive understanding of AS9100 and related quality management standards strongly desired.Experience leading a team is desirable.Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) desirable.Requires U.S.

Citizenship, U.S.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:Employees may need to successfully pass a health check-up, as a standard practice when moving to a different facility as required by Occupational Health and Safety.

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e.

ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.

Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner.

While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc.

requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e.

steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection.

Some positions may require Respirator clearance up to and including the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Level A clearance.

Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas.

Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations.

Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto.

Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary.

This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Some positions entail working with small parts/components.

Employees must have excellent hand-eye coordination and good manual dexterity in both hands.
