Primary Responsibilities include : Support plant safety with active participation in safety audits and risk assessments Ensuring compliance of product attributes to technical specifications and requirements Lead process optimization, root cause analysis and driving scientific and engineering principles into a rapidly changing industrial manufacturing facility Using data to analyze and investigate process difficulties as well as making at-the-line observations to detect and analyze sources of trouble Determining and following through on immediate corrective measures where possible Planning and conducting factory tests to follow through on any of the preceding activities Writing test plans, observing test runs, directing experimental process adjustments during tests, evaluating test results, writing reports, and recommending and initiating subsequent action to be taken Serving as project leader, manager and ‘doer’ of medium to large scope projects including cost reduction, quality improvements, new product development, energy utilization, and process improvement Driving practical knowledge of science and technology into all levels of the manufacturing organization for improved plant performance and quality Working with production operators, production leaders and other technical support staff in hands-on troubleshooting of technical problems Providing technical expertise and leadership in applying process improvement tools such as Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, design of experiments and statistical process control and use these tools to identify and improve plant performance Investigating improvement opportunities and initiating critical manufacturing process improvement projects Continually coach production operators in the use of process control techniques Create, refine, educate and implement standard work and process adherence throughout the workforce Drive to root cause resolution of customer complaints for any product quality issues, implement corrective actions with production teams Implement product quality improvements, by completing root cause analysis leveraging scientific and engineering principles Creating and maintaining data collection systems Continually expand product and supplier relationships in an effort to gain sustainable competitive advantage Monitor daily operations to find improvement opportunities As a member of the plant staff, this person provides active leadership toward achieving the overall plant objectives of safety, business excellence and commitment to our employees.

Required Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Proven computer skills including proficiency with: Microsoft Office and advanced excel Self-starter with a strong ability to multi-task and juggle multiple responsibilities Ability to work in an industrial environment (i.e.

Ability to wear required PPE, work in a dusty, hot, non-climate controlled environment; with stairs, frequent walking, standing and occasional lifting of material) Desired Qualifications and Skill s 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment Experience in VBA code, writing and troubleshooting Statistical analysis program experience such as Minitab Previous experience with the application of Six Sigma, DMAIC and/or Lean methodologies Customer interaction experience including customer visits, customer complaints, claims management, etc.

About the location (Newark OH) Tectum, Inc., a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, Inc.

(AWI), is one of fifteen Armstrong plants in North America.

Our Tectum manufacturing plant employs many people across 2 shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of our Tectum product.

With over 60 years of innovation and experience in reducing noise worldwide, our Tectum plant has the right product for your noise problem.

This position is located in beautiful and historical Newark, Ohio, the county seat of Licking County, 40 miles northeast of Columbus.

We also have another location in nearby Hebron.
