PRE-WEIGH

Genera l Description:

Pre-Weigh I is responsible for the weighing of raw materials used in the manufacture of bulk products.  The materials they handle are very expensive.  Any spill or error in the handling of these materials may result in a significant loss to company.  All work must be carefully and accurately performed and documented to meet requirements set by our customers and by the FDA.  Anything less than the complete compliance in these areas may result in significant liability to the company and the company’s reputation.

Specific Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Promotes a safe working environment and adheres to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, company safety rules, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) in line with the company’s objectives and policies at all timeswith everyone in the department. No short cuts allowed
  • Checks scale performance to ensure reliability and accuracy.
  • Locates and retrieves materials as listed on the Pick List.
  • Weighs, labels, packages, and palletizes materials by batch as listed on the Pick List.
  • Provides materials as needed for R&D, QC, and batch adjustments.
  • Repackages and returns materials to proper storage locations.
  • Transfers materials between locations.
  • Completes and verifies records to document all work.
  • Uses computer terminals to find and input information necessary to perform work.
  • Informs supervision of material shortages and discrepancies.
  • Performs cycle counts to resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Operates various lifts (forklift, electric hand lifts) to move materials to and from pallet racks.
  • Follows written procedures from Pick Lists, SOP’s, and departmental procedures in the pre-weighing of materials.
  • Clean and sanitary in the handling of equipment and materials.
  • Maintains a clean and professional personal appearance and working area.
  • Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  • No allergies or sensitivity to chemicals that may preclude the handling of materials or use of personal protective equipment
  • Wear respirator/PPE when required
  • Long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, or kneeling.
  • Must be capable of handling 55-gallon drums
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 1-year minimum experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment; preferably in cosmetics process manufacturing or an FDA regulated industry is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Inventory Control, procedures, practices, and issues based on hands-on experience.
  • Shows initiative to demonstrate ability to develop and follow-up daily schedules.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to understand the use of Compounding equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of power and hand tools to perform job functions.
  • Strong English communications skills: speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Strong math and analytical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Basic PC Knowledge i.e. MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and MRP Systems is required.
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Good attendance record.
  • Must be able to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area. Maintains housekeeping in conformance, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Self-Management: Display initiative, effort excellent organizational and planning skills, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Teamwork: Build and sustain cooperative working relationships and has strong leadership skills and ability.
