Pipelayer Helper (Laborer)

Position Summary

The Pipelayer Helper will be responsible for assisting in the sewer, water, and storm drain installation process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to assist pipelayer in installing all types of pipe for fire, water, sewer, and storm drain systems
  • Assist pipelayer to install services, fire hydrants, pipe connections etc. per Standard Drawings
  • Read and understand survey grade stakes
  • Able to set up floliner to keep grade and set pipe grades
  • Able to set up string line and grade stick
  • Able to effectively spot and grade trench
  • Able to dig and pour thrust blocks
  • Able to cut and bevel pipe
  • Able to solder copper pipe
  • Able to safely operate compressor and Jack Hammer
  • Able to safely operate small power tools
  • Able to mix cement and concrete
  • Able to set up shoring in accordance with OSHA safe practices
  • Maintain positive attitude while learning and growing into pipelayer II position
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Position Requirements

  • Education: No education requirement
  • Experience: 1 -2 years related experience
  • Team attitude with the ability to move rapidly and energetically
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and overtime as required
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Able to commute to various sites in Southern CA (Los Angeles/Ventura/Riverside/San Bernardino/Orange Counties)

Physical Requirements

  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects regularly throughout the work shift
  • Able to work in sun, heat, dry, dirty and dusty conditions
  • Able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds without assistance
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform manual responsibilities
