Position Summary
The Pipelayer Helper will be responsible for assisting in the sewer, water, and storm drain installation process.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to assist pipelayer in installing all types of pipe for fire, water, sewer, and storm drain systems
- Assist pipelayer to install services, fire hydrants, pipe connections etc. per Standard Drawings
- Read and understand survey grade stakes
- Able to set up floliner to keep grade and set pipe grades
- Able to set up string line and grade stick
- Able to effectively spot and grade trench
- Able to dig and pour thrust blocks
- Able to cut and bevel pipe
- Able to solder copper pipe
- Able to safely operate compressor and Jack Hammer
- Able to safely operate small power tools
- Able to mix cement and concrete
- Able to set up shoring in accordance with OSHA safe practices
- Maintain positive attitude while learning and growing into pipelayer II position
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Position Requirements
- Education: No education requirement
- Experience: 1 -2 years related experience
- Team attitude with the ability to move rapidly and energetically
- Able to work nights, weekends, and overtime as required
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Able to commute to various sites in Southern CA (Los Angeles/Ventura/Riverside/San Bernardino/Orange Counties)
Physical Requirements
- Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects regularly throughout the work shift
- Able to work in sun, heat, dry, dirty and dusty conditions
- Able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds without assistance
- Requires manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform manual responsibilities
