Phantom Works, Space Lead Modeling and Simulation Engineer – El Segundo, CA
Boeing Phantom Works creates the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business and is currently looking for a Lead Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA.
We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Phantom Works focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
We are seeking an Lead Modeling and Simulation Engineer with experience in satellites to work in a rapid development environment. This engineer will need experience working with space system solutions. The position will take customer requirements/needs and define, develop, and coordinate a model for the concept of operations for a complex space architecture. This role will perform analyses and simulations necessary to optimize the system.
Position Responsibilities:
- Define, develop, and build a model/simulation of the space system architecture.
- Partner with systems engineering to perform analyses and optimize the system
- Build a model for the concept of operations for an optimized space system.
- Facilitate definition of detailed requirements that meets customer?s needs.
Basic Qualification and Experience Required:
- **This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance with a (Tier 5) Investigation, also known as an (SSBI) that has been successfully completed within the last 5 years. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). Boeing Security will validate clearance level.
- BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Math, Physics or Engineering is required.
- 7+ years? experience with a range of space modeling and simulation applications
- 3+ years? experience in coordination with system engineering in defining a space concept of operations
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- SCI Investigation
- Experience in development, build and test of small and medium-sized spacecraft
- Experience in a dynamic rapid prototyping environment
- Prior history working proprietary programs with a variety of Government entities in a classified environment
Education:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
