Under supervision of the Directorof Nursing or Medical Director, provide direct nursing care, infusion therapyand documentation to patients in the Community Oncology Practice. Major functions include: patient assessment,patient evaluation and preparation and administration of chemotherapeuticagents and other intravenous drugs, patient education and psychosocialsupport.
BSN or MSN, required
current California RN license. required
current valid BLS from ARC or AHA, required
ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification
Knowledge of the Oncology patient population and practice operations
Knowledge of all aspects of infusion therapy in an oncology setting
Excellent blood withdrawal and IV skills
Knowledge to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to Physicians
Skill in usage of medical diagnostic equipment, as well as working knowledge of instruments and supplies required to perform necessary blood tests and provide infusion therapy
Skill in performing with frequent interruptions an/or distractions including the ability to accept equivocal circumstances and respond to changing priorities and deadlines
Ability to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference, and hostility
Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with sensitive and confidential information using discretion and judgment
Ability to push, pull or carry 30 pounds or more
Willing and able to travel to ALL Hem/Onc Community practices
