Peer Review RN Coordinator

Responsibilities

The Department of Medicine is the largest department within UCLAHealth and includes 13 clinical sub-specialties with more than 200 ambulatory practicesand over 600 physician faculty. Under the leadership of its Chief QualityOfficer, the Quality Team is focused on improving the quality of care deliveryfor over 350,000 patients seen each year. Under the direction of the ChiefQuality Officer and Administrative Director for the Department of Medicine, thePeer Review RN Coordinator will be responsible for executing qualityimprovement goals for the Physician Peer Review program. This position requiresclinical knowledge to ensure that the inpatient and ambulatory peer reviewprocess is effective in evaluating issues related to professional practice. Youwill be responsible for overall coordination and management of the physicianpeer review clinical review process, including abstracting data for aggregationand analysis, medical record review, and tracking committee recommendations andfollow-up actions for timeliness of response. In addition, you will provideexpertise and support for Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI)functions for the Department of Medicine.

Qualifications

Required:
Bachelor of Science (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Current State of California license/permit to practice professional nursing.
Minimum of five (5) years of hospital-based or ambulatory clinical experience.
Minimum two (2) years of experience in Peer Review, Quality Management & Performance Improvement, or Patient Safety/Risk Management.
Excellent written, verbal, and computer skills to communicate diplomatically and effectively with faculty, peers, patients, physicians, collaborators, researchers, administrators, and University faculty and staff.
Demonstrated skill in problem solving, prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner, and maintaining confidentiality of data and using discretion and judgment in responding to inquiries and releasing information.
Demonstrated skills in using PC computer, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Internet and Windows applications.
Ability to develop, implement, track and report on projects.
