OR Transporter – EVS Aide – Full Time, Days (LACH)

The OR Transporter – EVS Aide transports patients, equipment, supplies and other items throughout the hospital in a safe and timely manner. Assists in the mobilization/transports of patient’s/visitors in reaching destination through the hospital and upon discharge. Follows all patient / visitor protocols. Maintains the cleanliness of the Operating Room in a safe, sanitary, orderly manner and in accordance with standard procedures and the objectives of the organization. Ensures that requests for information and services are accurately responded to, in a timely and appropriate manner, sensitive to the circumstances of the patient’s/guest’s emotional situation and privacy needs. Ensures cleanliness of patient transport equipment.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and other items throughout the hospital in a safe and timely manner. Complies with all infection control measures as appropriate. Ensure patients privacy and dignity at all times. Uses appropriate body mechanics for all work activities. Appropriately follows patient/visitor protocols.
  • After each operating room procedure, turnover operating room, clean waste, wipe and mop floors, prepare table, and remove biohazard container. Picks-up soiled linen and ensures soiled linen is in securely tied plastic bags and placed in locked storage area to await pick up. Picks up trash and places in closed covered container in all assigned areas in a timely manner. Cleans and relines trash cans. Picks up infectious waste in all assigned areas. Ensures that all infectious waste is double bagged, and securely tied, in infectious waste labeled bags, and is disposed of in specified Biohazardous bins. Ensures that all glass buckets are securely covered and stored appropriately in infectious waste storage area.
  • Actively engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful actions regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making. Demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.
  • Ensures equipment is in proper working order; cleans and disinfects as needed or required. Maintains inventory and records of equipment. Delivers, retrieves, and properly returns equipment to storage, keeping work area clean and organized, and traffic pathways clear.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Minimum Experience: Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Six (6) months of environmental services experience. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families preferred. Previous patient transport experience preferred.

Req. Certification/Licensure: AHA Basic Life Support required. Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only required).
