The Paralegal focuses on providing day-to-day support to members of the Legal Department and the business as a whole.

Responsibilities include supporting litigation attorneys in managing intake and distribution of new matters and mailings, calendaring appropriate deadlines, assisting with preparing and filing pleadings in state and federal courts, arranging court appearances, depositions and mediation, preparing shell discovery responses and calendaring appropriate response dates, and preparing miscellaneous documents.
What you’ll do:
* Develop a case file indexing system that can be used as an active archive for all ongoing and completed cases.
* Maintain internal litigation files.
* Prepare shell pleading and discovery documents.
* Prepare filings in state and federal courts.
* Maintain legal and litigation calendar, calendaring and handling all responsibilities to facilitate court appearances, deposition, mediations, and trials.
* Intake new matters and mail, save and circulate to appropriate parties.
* Utilize existing files and a variety of other research resources to develop information for pending cases.
* As needed position will require assisting in creating and maintaining closing checklists and closing binders for transactions.

Complete and submit requested change of ownership forms from the County Assessor as needed.
* As needed, position will require circulation of documents to the involved parties and outside counsel for review or comment.
* Organize and build web-based file for transactions and litigation files.
* Assist in administrative duties including processing third party invoices, scan, copy, redline documents and maintain files as needed.
What you’ll need:
* Associate degree in Paralegal Studies required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; or a combination of education and experience.
* 3+ years of experience as a Paralegal.
* Industry recognized certification from organizations such as NALA or AACP a plus.
* Experience using legal database software.
* Proficient use of MS Office.
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
* Strong research and report-generating skills
* Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
* High level of ethics, integrity, and confidentiality
* Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
* Strong business acumen
* Ability to handle pressure

* Able to perform various tasks on more than one case simultaneously
