Requisition Number: 33651 Job Title: PAINTER Working Title: Painter – Limited Salary: $37.46 hourly Job Type: Limited Department Name: 3415-MAINTENANCE AND ALTERATIONS Department Website URL: Job Summary Statement: Under the general supervision of the Manager – Mason, Paint, Roofing and Sign Shops, and the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Paint and Sign Shops, receive work assignments from Supervisor and/or Lead Painters; inspect and maintain painted exterior and interior painted surfaces, trimming and fixtures of buildings and other related structures and facilities. Use premixed paints or custom prepared paints; apply wood finishing (new and/or old surfaces) by appropriately preparing surface. Cover interior walls and ceilings of offices and related facilities with wallpaper or fabrics. Operate and maintain High Pressure Low Volume (HPLV) Spray Booth Equipment in order to finish and refinish wood, metal and synthetic surfaces. Prepare surfaces and apply stains, paints, shading stains, and clear finishes. With smaller projects and minor repairs, evaluate problem. Discuss jobs with supervisor in order to keep apprised of job progress and resolve any problems related to the job; submit completed work orders to supervisor. Provide direction to semi-skilled or unskilled workers. Maintain accurate hours on each job; operate and maintain a variety of power and/or hand tools and equipment of the trade; follow established safety procedures; clean up job site and return equipment and tools; respond to off-hour emergencies and overtime as required. Working knowledge of materials, equipment, methods and tools of the painting trade including achievement of operational skills.Required2. Working knowledge of paper, vinyl, and various special coatings; application and preparation; chemicals and solutions to remove coatings; dry wall taping and patching; surface and object protection; scaffolding.Required3. Skill in modifying and/or adapting designs, procedures or methods to make necessary alterations and modifications.Required4. Skill in estimating material and labor requirements to accomplish task.Required5. Skill in performing arithmetic calculations to determine square footage of surfaces and areas.Required6. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, customers, visitors and outside agencies.Required7. Oral communications skills to obtain or convey clear, concise and grammatically correct information.Required8. Skill in writing simple English phrases using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend.Required9.
