Job Details: RISK AND CONTROL ANALYSTWHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?The Risk & Control Analyst will have a key role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in accordance with regulatory directives. There will be significant effort spent on coordinating with Finance senior management, Risk and Internal Audit functions. This role is integral to the new and continuous development of risk management practices and required supporting documentation across the growing Finance organization, which consists of over 10 different business units.Finance Division Risk Management: 80 – 85% of DutiesThis role involves a consultative approach to govern and assist each Finance business unit with their risk management practices with the goal of limiting overall risk exposures. There will be key partnerships developed in regards to the development and/or maintenance of risk deliverables (e.g., Key Risk Indicators, Conduct Risk Indicators, Risk Assessments, etc.), critical policies and procedures, and control self-testing and related remediation planning. The Risk & Control Analyst will also assist the departments with the preparation for upcoming audits and be a point of contact for the auditors and regulators. The scope also includes supporting the Division Risk Manager with engagement with the second line of defense risk management groups (e.g., Operational Risk, Business Continuity, IT Risk, Third Party Risk, Corporate Security, Compliance, etc.) in order to complete various risk assessments and Finance’s Quarterly Risk Reports. Key stakeholders include the CFO, Finance Risk Committee, other CNB Committees and regulators.Financial Control Office: 15 – 20% of DutiesThe Financial Control Office (‘FCO’) is designed to add value and improve the Company’s financial control environment and reporting process. This office is the point of contact for all external audit communications and inquiries. The Risk & Control Analyst will have the opportunity to support the VP, Financial Controls & Division Risk Manager with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (‘SOX’) and FDIC Improvement Act (‘FDICIA’) compliance programs e.g., control deficiency assessments and monitoring remediation plans. The Risk & Control Analyst will be a partner with the control owners when changes occur within staffing, processes, systems and/or new accounting pronouncements, etc. Key stakeholders include the Audit Committee and regulators.Finance DivisionThis is a great opportunity to grow your career with a stable and expanding organization as a member of City National’s Finance team. This group records, analyzes, reports and optimizes to maintain the bank’s financial health, while following principles and legislation to ensure we’re doing what’s right.WHAT WILL YOU DO?• Works collaboratively within the Finance division and Risk (second line of defense) to coordinate risk management activities in preparation for audits and regulatory reviews• Assists management with self-audit test plan and testing methodology of key control activities across the division• Performs reviews and enhancements to applicable risk policies and procedures owned by each Finance department• Supports the Division Risk Manager with risk deliverables and reporting such as the Quarterly Risk Reports and Issue Management• Coordinates the completion of risk mitigating actions and provides status updates of open/closed audit issues to senior management and second line risk management functions, as applicable• Ensures appropriate colleagues in the division are trained on the applicable risk management practices, reporting, etc• Collaborates with control owners to assess control deficiencies and develop remediation plans, as applicable• Identifies opportunities to streamline/automate financial controls and accounting processes• Ensures remediation plans are executed in a timely manner by control owners• Collaborates and coordinates the annual plan with the external auditors, Internal Audit, and the RBC SOX Office (e.g., quarterly SOX certification process)WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEEDMust-Have*• Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration or equivalent• Minimum 3 years in an audit, risk and/or internal controls governance position required• Proficient in Microsoft Office Product Suite (including Visio) and SharePointSkills and Knowledge• CPA is preferred• Minimum 3 years of combined work experience with internal auditing and SOX/FDICIA Compliance• Excellent formal documentation skills and ability to draft policies/procedures for finance-related areas• Business maturity level and skill/judgment to deal effectively with leadership team within the Division, as required• Solid problem-solving, analytical (including qualitative analysis), research and quantitative skills• Ability to work independently and manage numerous priorities simultaneously• Familiarity of the financial services sector and the related business issues within a finance organization• Effective presentation, project management and communication (verbal and written) skills*To be considered for this position you must meet at least these basic qualificationsThe preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
