KARL STORZ is a market leader in minimally invasive surgery and surgical visualization technologies. The Senior Data Analyst, OR1 will lead continuous improvement in the following areas of focus: OR1 Installation, Service, and Production and will support special projects. OR1 is the high-tech commercial vertical of KARL STORZ, with hardware and software portfolios that drive Operating Room workflow efficiencies. OR1 is a foundation of operating room infrastructures and leads in next-gen technologies.

The incumbent will be a core business partner and provide insight into the OR1 business and how to increase profitability by providing decision support, recommending process improvements, identifying new revenue opportunities, creating new metrics, and creating dashboards. Additionally, he/she will be expected to provide ad-hoc analysis and relevant subject matter expertise.

Full business unit analytical management for someone who lives for and LOVES data analytics and high tech.

Duties and responsibilities:

Production:

o Partner with key stakeholders to understand their business needs

o Lead cross-functional teams in the development of advanced analytics that identify operational improvements and efficiencies.

o Drives data mapping for manufacturing dashboards

Deployment Services:

o Bridge operations and finance to help maximize financial results

o Creating an OR1 Installation Dashboard by WBS / Project both for in-process and completed deals showing Actual and Plan Revenue and COS split by Material, Labor, and Travel by collaborating with OR1 Operations

    • Use analysis to provide data-based recommendations, reports, and presentations including lessons learned from past deals and actual results
    • Identifies metrics to manage field services teams in real-time using data analytics
    • Identifies metrics/ levers impacting the profitability of field services teams
    • Tracks HR metrics that impact profitability and interrupt data to assist in the remediation

Project Success:

    • Maximize return on investments by understanding the life of a project and what impacts a project’s gross profit

o Track projects’ success after the implementation is completed.

    • Identifies analytics leading indicators that impact project GP

Service:

    • Use data analytics to understand OR1 Service and develop new strategies to drive growth in the Service
    • Understands data to be mined from the service ticketing system, and pulls data to create KPI dashboards on first-time fix rate, response time, field work order status, etc.
    • Tracks HR metrics that impact profitability in service
    • Model new ways for service delivery

Other Business Support:

    • Build intuitive interfaces, infographics, and visualizations to tell stories with data.
    • Create presentations with analysis and insights for both technical and non-technical audiences and present and interact with executives.
    • Become a subject matter expert on the process and tools used within KARL STORZ
    • Lead the analysis of new acquisition models, like XaaS
    • Lead competitive market analysis preparation
    • Lead development of sales metrics and business planning for the business unit.
    • True business partner to Executive Management, looking for the story in the data, and assisting with executive readouts (such as QBRs).
    • Systems super user: Understanding how data flows between SAP, Project Systems, HRIS, and Service Ticketing Systems.
    • Completes other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education / Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Engineering) or equivalent consulting experience); MBA preferred;
    • 5+ years of experience with data exploration and visualization like Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, etc
    • 3+ years of experience in data analytics, including building and deploying enterprise-wide data models with applications to real-world problems

    • A well-qualified candidate should be highly technical with strong business acumen
    • Self-starter with abundant intellectual curiosity who excels at framing problems analytically, is comfortable working through ambiguity, and has a proven track record of helping leverage
    • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with heavy attention to detail, and the ability to focus on big-picture issues and use creativity to resolve issues and streamline processes
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills to translate technical solutions and methodologies to executive leadership
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player
    • An understanding of the demands and tight deadlines of a complex, marketing-driven organization
    • Ability to work in a diverse environment with all levels of employees
    • Ability to write reports that are understandable regardless of the financial knowledge of the audience
  • Travel Requirements
    • Travel up to 10%
