Our employees are not only part of history, they’re making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is currently seeking a Consulting Systems Engineer in Air Vehicle Conceptual Design and Development with a Current/Active Clearance to support our Advanced Programs group.The qualified candidate will join a staff of Chief Engineers that support program execution of ongoing development activities, and new business capture.In this role, you will:Partner with program management leads to achieve efficient, effective, and innovative Engineering solutions, including product and technology development, achieving program success and looking for opportunities to leverage common designs & products to enable affordable solutions.Support the Advanced Programs Chief Engineer in the technical oversight of Advanced Programs IR& D and contracted efforts.Assist in the allocation and coordination of engineering resources over Advanced Programs portfolio of projects.Act as liaison between engineering functional management and program management.Generate, manage and review technical and cost proposals for technology and product development pursuits.Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Develop architectures and concepts for Vehicle Conceptual Designs with autonomous systems and subsystems including flight sensors, flight computers, communications, propulsion, payloads and air vehiclesPerform sizing and design space trade studies and early vehicle performance analysis & assessmentsIntroduce and develop new technologies for concepts and designs of advanced systemsInterfacing with the design and implementation engineers and architects to ensure that robust and compliant designs are developedTechnical project management and leadership for small teams of cross functional engineers developing advanced systems designs and conceptsDevelopment of proposals for technology and product developmentRelocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available for this position.
Basic Qualifications:Current active Secret clearance or higher.BS in Engineering (or related) discipline20+ years’ experience in systems and product developmentWell-versed, skilled and disciplined in system engineering processes.Background in aerospace systems; basic understanding of aircraft systems, missile systems, avionics, software systems, and their design driversPreferred Qualifications:Secret Clearance Periodic Re-investigation within the last 5 yearsWorking knowledge of Low Observable technologiesFamiliarity with operational and system survivability analyses and methodologiesSalary Range: 188320 282480Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
