Job Summary

The Design-Build Water Division of AECOM is seeking a Senior Level Chief Engineer with a specialty in the area of Designing Wastewater Process Systems.

This position can be located anywhere in the United States, New England/Northeast preferred.

This role will assist the AECOM Design-Build Chief Engineer in formulating strategies and process designs for high visibility, complex Design-Build pursuits and current major projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Conduct wastewater process designs for biological treatment systems.

Familiarity and competence with process modeling using Biowin desired.

Providing leadership in development of concept designs, proposal development, detailed design and project execution

Design of wastewater unit operations for liquid and solid stream treatment systems

Process design support for multiple projects in various geographies across North America

Evaluating and championing new process technologies and techniques.

Leads the technology strategy for individual’s area of expertise.

Leads effort in determining cost-effective solution(s).

Serves as technical expert in their domain, recognized as the ‘go-to’ expert internally and externally.

Provides guiding direction and ultimate oversight of engineering engagements.

Sets direction and goals for technology and/or business line.

External spokesperson on technical engineering issues.

Technical point of contact for strategic clients and member of AECOM senior leadership team.

Actively engages with technology suppliers in the selection and procurement of critical process equipment.

Participates in the development of startup activities and troubleshooting.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering, or a related field of study

Twelve years of related wastewater process systems design experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Four years of leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or Doctorate Degree in civil, environmental, sanitary, or chemical engineering

Professional Engineering license (P.E.)

Fifteen or more years of experience in wastewater process design and unit operations

Experience with design-build or similar at-risk project delivery

Potable water process design experience would be a plus but not required

Proficiency with Biowin modelling software

Good understanding of project delivery and ability to facilitate technical discussions
– proven engineering skills

Willing and able to travel
– approximately 25-50%
