If you possess a detailed understanding of music copyright principles and terms, specifically as they apply to work-for-hire and license agreements, we want to speak to you!ResponsibilitiesResearches copyright status and music ownership details for music compositions and sound recordings. Communicates with third parties, including record labels, music publishers, managers, and artists, to accurately identify copyright owners and verifying ownership splits.Drafts and issues quote requests to intellectual property (IP) owners for licensed music. Follows up with IP owners to ensure timely receipt of license quotes, and captures all vital company information for the purpose of creating internal requests for legal agreements.Coordinates with Legal and Finance teams to manage the setup of new vendors in PlayStation’s vendor database. Issues and collects vendor forms, and researches company information via state business portals to ensure accuracy.Builds requests for legal agreements using PlayStation’s contract management software. Coordinates with Legal to track contract status from inception through execution. Tracks payment status for each contract, and reports to relevant PlayStation Music producers and project collaborators.Reviews music licenses, composer agreements, and other vendor contracts for game credit provisions, and partners with Music managers to assemble department credits for the Creative Arts – Music group on a project by project basis.Reviews monthly license reports and flags expiring licenses. Coordinates with relevant project team members to renew agreements as necessary within allotted budgets.Collects music ownership and copyright details for all in-game music, and generates cue sheets for each PlayStation project. Registers PlayStation-owned music with the applicable performing rights organizations.Education & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in a field related to music, interactive media, or entertainment.Experience in music/entertainment law or music contracts/licensing preferred.General knowledge of, and a love for music and the video game industry a plus.SkillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and online music research tools, including PRO websites and US Copyright Office site.Critical attention to detail and highly organized.Self-starter and creative problem-solver.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multiple internal groups and external partners in a fast-paced environment.#LA-AG1Equal Opportunity Statement:Sony is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
