THE OPPORTUNITY MRO Spare Buyer Planner is responsible for non-inventory items and ensure that stock levels are maintained at adequate levels.
Work directly with plant systems, such as the MVP system to help drive, manage and co-ordinate with supplier deliveries.
This person will work in conjunction with the MRO Capital and Indirect Procurement Director to help co-ordinate overall cost reduction.
Responsibilities: WHAT YOU WILL DO: Create purchase requisitions when required and obtain approval prior to placing supply orders.
Manage the entirety of the purchasing and inventory control process, including communication with suppliers and PO creation/verification using CMS and MVP system.
Monitor and report the progress of purchases within MVP or equivalent purchasing software.
Contact vendors and verify quotations from various suppliers in order to assure that high quality and cost-effective parts and materials are ordered.
Observe usage of critical parts and set adequate minimum and maximum stock amounts within MVP.
Work with established supply chains on a set schedule, to ensure a continuous supply.
Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of MRO material as required by MRP.
React to work order requests of critical parts and ensure that the stock levels never fall below a set minimum.
Manage inventory accuracy by performing physical inventory counts daily.
Prepare and maintain usage and spend reports for direct and indirect material commodity suppliers with guidance from Materials Manager, Maintenance Manager and Director of Indirect Procurement.
Implement and manage min/max inventory management systems for identified MRO and janitorial/office supplies/first aid supplies and other categories.
Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems.
Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to avoid invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers.
Collaborate with internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options.
Qualifications: WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 5 years functional experience in materials and inventory management Possess excellent communication skills to interact with co-workers, customers and suppliers.
Solid experience in evaluating and analyzing risks associated with material planning and inventory management; hands-on experience in managing customer demand variations.
Working knowledge of freight planning, lane optimization.
Solid knowledge of ERP system/BI reporting.
Familiarity with computer applications and communications software.
Able to train people on IT systems.
Working experience on continuous improvement initiatives in supply chain/plant operations settings.
APICS /CPIM certification preferred Demonstrate planning and analytical skills; able to recommend and implement sustainable supply planning and inventory management solutions to drive operational performance improvements.
Hands on experience in scheduling and inventory planning in an ERP system environment.
