Job Details: MANAGER DATA ASSURANCE 1LOD
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
The data assurance manager is an essential function for ensuring proper design and operation of data controls owned by Front Office (both within the First Line of Defense (1LOD) Risk organization where the role is aligned, and across broader business unit functions).
The primary objective of this role will be to evaluate control effectiveness, across the lifecycle of the lending process and to improve data quality control design and operation.
Successful candidates will be skilled at identifying process improvement opportunities and possessing the skillset to affect changes through influence and consensus building.This position will work closely with ‘Office of the President’
– aligned business units (including Commercial Banking, Specialty Banking, Entertainment Banking, National Corporate Banking, Real Estate Banking and Income Properties Group) and may have an evolving mandate as the maturity of the control ecosystem progresses.
Employing a flexible and broad risk skillset, this manager is expected to build and manage a team of data assurance specialists that will perform actions that may include, but not limited to: identifying risks and control points, identifying / reporting / prioritizing gaps, mapping data control processes, identifying or augmenting reporting, relocating controls, recommending / assisting with implementation of improvement recommendations, solutioning for audit or regulatory feedback, and aligning operations to a target future state set in collaboration with the Manager of 1LOD Data Governance.The role provides leadership, subject matter expertise and managerial responsibility to ensure specialist team delivery of work product in an accurate and efficient manner.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Management of front-end data assurance team that improves data-related processes associated with lending origination and boarding
Establish and maintain relationships with front office control owners, enterprise data functions, technology, and risk and regulatory reporting owners
Represent data quality for the lending data domain
Initiate and support efforts to create a sustainable and scalable data quality infrastructure
Collaborate with control owners, to ensure best-in-class practices for efficient and effective quality review and response
Ensure proper line of business engagement in data related matters and initiatives
Promote efforts for data literacy amongst front line business units
Ensure adherence of data practices to bank and regulatory standards & identification and communication of risks and issues
Collaborate with group manager in creating and delivering presentations for senior management that include control performance, process improvement recommendations, analysis and information on options to facilitate action decisioning
Respond, as necessary, to ad-hoc support requests including targeted data clean up efforts or exam/audit support
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Must-Have*
Bachelor’s Degree Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in financial services, or management consulting required.
And
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a risk or data role with a high level of responsibility for setting direction and approach
Skills and Knowledge
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mix of transformation, process improvement, business analysis, audit and/or quality control preferred.
Knowledge of commercial lending processes
Experience with commercial loan origination, servicing, or collateral systems such as AFS, FIS, Moody’s product suite
Demonstrated experience in communicating concepts to an executive audience; powerpoint fluency
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with knowledge of vlook-up, logical statements, pivot tables, macros.
Familiarity with OCC Heightened Standards strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively, internally with the most senior representatives of organizations, regulators and vendors.
Ability to exercise independent judgment, see ‘big picture’, and employ reasoning and problem solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Proficient in multi-tasking and prioritizing projects.
Attention to detail.
Knowledge of CCAR or other regulatory reporting.
Self-motivation, discipline, task focus, the ability to structure and present work and a proven record of delivering high quality results within strict deadlines.
Expertise in creating and deploying processes, best practices and methodologies.
