Job Description: Train to acquire the skills necessary to produce machined parts by setting up and operating a manual horizontal boring mill.
Will learn to maintain quality and safety standards, record keeping, maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Primary Responsibilities: To learn, practice, and apply the following skills: Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters while interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Plan tooling requirements and observes continuous improvement methods.
Set up zero and reference points, offsets, compensation, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, while adhering to Air Way Automation’s standards.
Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Maintain a clean and safe work area including cleaning inside and outside of machine daily.
Cleaning and maintaining vises, fixtures, and tooling.
Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Document actions by completing production.
Qualifications and Skills Required Basic knowledge of measuring equipment and tools.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
Basic understanding of computer software.
Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
Good communication abilities.
High school diploma or equivalent; certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline is a plus.
Ability and willingness to work overtime.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, Protective Clothing Air Way Automation is a machine shop and production facility.
Individuals are exposed to noise and a variety of temperature conditions.
The incumbent may be required to stand most of the day, along with stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, and kneeling.
The position requires a minimal lifting ability of 50 pounds .
