Litigation Management Analyst

Overview: AmTrust Financial Services, a fast-growing commercial insurance company, is looking for an experienced Litigation Management Analyst to support the monitoring of qualitative and quantitative performance and results of legal counsel resources as managed by the AmTrust Litigation Department.

AmTrust has seen significant growth since inception fueled by numerous acquisitions over the years.

While the company’s revenue has grown, the number of claims as well as complexity of claims has grown with it.

This has created an opportunity for us to better leverage our scale and vast amounts of data to identify opportunities to operate more efficiently.

This position will report directly to the AVP, Litigation in the Counsel Management Unit (“CMU”) of the Litigation Department by providing audit function, data, analytics and reporting to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the legal counsel resource.

The right candidate will bring a balance of technical legal expertise, analytical abilities, creativity, interpersonal skills, and execution to the table.

Responsibilities: Audit and measure the qualitative performance of staff, panel and non-panel law firms on open claim files, including but not limited to:Review of Defense Counsel work-product for guideline compliance, cost efficiencies, responsiveness, reporting quality, resolution strategy and appropriate budgeting.Maintain database to track law firm performance/service issues and summarize said issues on a quarterly basis for inclusion in CMU Quarterly Performance Reviews.Communicate identified deficiencies in file handling to CMU, Counsel and other units within the Litigation Department as needed, and continue to monitor problematic files to ensure improvement/corrective action.Through audit and review of law firm Case Inventory Reports (and other data) identify claims for quick resolution; monitor status of targeted claims until closure, and proactively engage with CMU, Claim Department and Counsel to push claims to resolution.Track (and report to CMU) panel law firm Key Performance Indicators in preparation for Quarterly Performance Reviews, including analysis of data for outliers and anomalies, as well as comparison of data to firm competitors.Communicate on regular basis to key stakeholders in the CMU and Claim Department the key “take-aways” from Audit, QPR and other qualitative measures;Respond to routine email inquiries from Claim Department regarding law firms and various litigation management protocols; investigate complaints from Claim Department regarding law firm performance and address the same with law firms and/or recommend corrective action as needed.Identify high exposure/high spend complex claims and/or claims needing additional attention.Participate in law firm Quarterly Performance Review meetings; and (eventually) independently conduct QPR phone calls with lower volume law firms.Assist in logistical coordination, execution and tracking of various “bulk file transfer” projects.Ensure that law firms are fully complying with various litigation management protocols, including but not limited to Legal X budget submissions, Case Inventory Report submissions, proper and timely opening/closing of matters and proper use of Legal Case Referral system.Perform “spot check” audits of law firm Case Inventory Reports to verify accuracy/completeness of data and information provided therein.Further the goals of the Litigation Department by proactively identifying and implementing potential new cost saving opportunities.Perform various ad hoc litigation management tasks/projects as directed by the CMUDevelop “Power User” capabilities for use of electronic firm management software and assist in managing legal case routing within the tool.
