JOB DESCRIPTION
Fox Consumer Products and Engineering (CPE) is looking for a Lead Video Player Engineer, Web to design and implement core video player features for our consumer-facing applications across all of Fox’s networks.
FOX is responsible for delivering the largest LIVE events on TV
– including the 2020 Super Bowl, MLB World Series, FIFA World Cup, Election Coverage, WWE Smackdown, 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards and countless more.
You are essential to providing our digital audience a great experience every time they press play and will be key to developing industry-leading playback performance.
You will be working in an extremely fast-paced environment where you’ll be expected to take ownership of building video playback solutions and provide deep technical expertise across the entire software delivery process.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with Engineering/Product/Project Management and Backend Technology Services teams to build video player features that contribute to FOX video streaming initiatives
Spearhead the design and architecture for video player features
Build core playback features for Web and Web-based applications such as Chromecast, Vizio, and Samsung Tizen
Lead efforts in performance, scalability, security, architecture and engineering best practices
Track and prioritize numerous tasks for various team members
Provide technical specifications and documentation
Collaborate with team members to deliver software using agile methodologies
Stay up-to-date with the latest in emerging technologies/trends on mobile platforms
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
7+ years of experience in a software engineering role
Experience with Node.js and React
Experience leading a web application team at a tech company
Experience with RESTful APIs, unit testing and end-end testing
Excellent programming skills in Javascript ES2015 or later
Demonstrable knowledge of npm and yarn package management tools
Demonstrable knowledge of building responsive user experiences
Git, SVN, Jenkins, Docker, Agile methodologies
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Experience with Video Players, Video Streaming technologies (HLS)
Experience with analytics platforms (Conviva, Segment)
Excellent documentation skills, UML diagrams
