Facebook’s Reality Labs seeks a Lead Counsel for its virtual reality and augmented reality business to support games studios.
Facebook invents, manufactures and sells industry leading virtual reality headsets and operates a global virtual reality content and social platform.
Success in this position will require you to provide creative and practical guidance to clients on different legal and business strategies to help foster the development of our thriving content development ecosystem.
You will also be providing strategic guidance on game and product development, content and software platform regulations, as well as drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts.
This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge issues in a fast-paced environment.
Lead legal support to product teams including software engineering, content, design, and other games teams, including advice on content distribution, user-generated content, data privacy and security, competition, copyright and trademark, and open-source software.
Coordinate closely with Privacy team to identify and provide frontline product advice and ensure privacy compliance.
Evaluate, draft, and negotiate contracts relating to content and software products, platforms and services.
Build positive and influential relationships with executives, product teams, and peers across the AR/VR organization in Facebook.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners and subject matters experts both within Facebook’s legal department (such as privacy, compliance, M&A, and competition) and across the business (such as policy, communications, and marketing) to analyze and communicate legal risks.
Minimum Qualifications
J.D.
degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience)
Preferred Qualifications
Law firm and in-house experience with technology companies.
Industry experience and legal expertise representing mobile or game console software platforms, interactive game development, developer ecosystems and consumer-facing software platforms.
Music licensing experience.
