I have one for you Job Title: Lab Technician
– Contract Position Pay Rate: $18.00 Responsibilities: Role responsibilities
– Provide support to Chemical Synthesis group for preparation, purification and characterization of organic compounds for research purposes.
Accountabilities
• Assist senior scientists in setting up organic synthesis experiments (including 14C-labelled).
• Prepare stock solutions required in synthesis and analysis of organic compounds.
• Develop separation methods for organic molecules by TLC and HPLC to support ongoing synthesis projects.
• Assist senior chemist in monitoring chemical reactions using appropriate instrumentation including NMR, HPLC, GC, IR, and mass spectrometry.
• Work as part of a team in organic synthesis research laboratory and document work procedures in laboratory notebook.
• Manage chemical inventory and identify opportunities for improvement in operational/delivery processes.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
• Experience in organic synthesis including knowledge of TLC and chromatographic purification required.
• Ability to interpret data and draw appropriate conclusions.
• Strong laboratory skills and ability to multi-task.
• Good communication skills and a team player.
• Strong problem-solving skills, a high level of learning agility, and the ability to work across functions.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated.
Qualifications
• Minimum B.S.
in chemistry required.
• 0-5 years of experience working in an organic chemistry laboratory or analytical chemistry.
• Knowledge of 14C labelled compounds preferred but not required.
