Labor & Employment Paralegal

A well-established law firm located in Downtown Los Angeles seeks an experienced Labor & Employment Paralegal with Wage and Hour experience to support the firm’s Labor & Employment practice in its Los Angeles office. This position assists lawyers and non-attorney timekeepers with preparation of complex legal documents, discovery tasks, analysis of wage and hour records and creation of damages analysis, deadline management, mid-level legal research activities, trial preparation, and other related tasks. 
Qualifications:

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent required.  College degree preferred.  Paralegal certificate, National Association of Legal Assistants certification or specialty certificate provided by State helpful.
Experience:  Minimum of three years of paralegal or related business experience in the labor and employment field required. Statistical experience or experience creating damages models for wage-hour matters helpful. Experience preparing cases for trial or arbitration also a plus; previous experience coordinating paralegal work or case clerks helpful.
Other Minimum Qualifications:  Intermediate knowledge and application of California Federal, State and Local Rules. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic technological and research skills necessary to pull requested documents from online resources and familiarity with legal technology and computer databases required.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Ability to train other paralegals and work efficiently and accurately under pressure, and present a positive, professional image with colleagues, professional staff, and vendors.  Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage and timely meet all internal and external deadlines. Ability to work overtime or travel, as needed, on short notice essential.  Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, e Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions.  Visual acuity needed for transcription, extensive reading and input (typing) of information into computer.  Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication.  Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory.
