Job Description
About the role:
You will manage operations within the Manufacturing Sciences team and will perform laboratory tasks that support local and global manufacturing activities. You will report to the Research Lead.
How you will contribute:
- Perform a broad range of analytical and lab-scale process methods which include protein characterization assays liquid chromatography assays, bioassays/ immunochemistry assays, multiple microscopy methods for particulate matter analysis, and bench-scale process analysis.
- Perform process testing to support products in development and current products for release.
- Maintain applicable lab compliance standards and controls, and the collecting, and analyzing of lab results.
- Demonstrate operational knowledge of specialized laboratory and lab-scale instruments and equipment (such as microscopes, spectrophotometers, HPLCs, bench-scale chromatography and cell culture systems) and techniques (such as immunoblotting and chromatography).
- Conduct experiments and analyze data for studies and investigations under general guidance.
- Proficiently use and maintain general lab equipment such as balances, pipettes, and pH meters.
- Maintain instruments/equipment as recommended by vendor (i.e., periodic preventative maintenance schedules) and the records and documentation associated with the activities.
- Manage applicable Metrology systems, training records, own, track and maintain internal documents and notebooks.
- Manage exceptions/non-conformances as applicable to lab activities.
- Maintain applicable laboratory EHS and Safety standards.
- Review and author technical reports, studies and protocols.
- Operational knowledge of general laboratory equipment (pH meters, balances, centrifuges, pipettes) and demonstrated ability to perform experienced bench work.
- Expertise in applicable analytical and lab-scale technologies (Microscopy, cell culture, chromatography systems and immunochemistry test methods).
- Can review and author technical reports, studies and protocols.
What you bring to Takeda:
- Bachelor’s Degree in biological, chemical, or physical science (chemistry, biochemistry or molecular or microbiology).
- Prior work and experience in a lab environment within the Biopharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry.

Important Considerations
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to provide quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. You may:
- Overall physical exertion of this position is medium.
- May be required to lift to 50 pounds and carry frequently when handling samples and equipment.
- Movement of head/neck frequently when conducting microscope work.
- Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
- Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
- Work in a cold, hot, wet environment.
- Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours.
- Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
