Lab Assistant

Description: Job Summary: Responsible for the day-to day assistance of general duties in a CAP/CLIA certified clinical cell culture laboratory.

The work includes responsibility for supporting the laboratory and staff focused on developing test procedures on tissues and cells for treatment of cancer patients.

Performance of general laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration, including biosafety cabinets, incubators, Novocyte Flow Cytometers, plate readers, Integra Viaflo 96 Pipettes, single channel pipettes, ph Meters, and waterbaths, among others.

Responsibility for start/end of the day general laboratory maintenance, including cleaning, organization and equipment shutdown.

Inventory management, including ordering, receiving, storing and restocking inventory stores.

Preparation of quality controlled media and reagents using a scale, pH meter, Nanodrop and spectrophotomer during preparation, as needed.

Culture and prepare consistent human cell line and primary samples for clinical and R&D testing, including media changing, initiating & passaging cultures.

Specialized tissue accessioning and processing according to written standard procedures.

Adherence to laboratory quality control and quality assurance requirements, including thorough documentation.

Skills: aseptic technique, cell culture, tissue processing Top Skills Details: aseptic technique, cell culture, tissue processing Additional Skills & Qualifications: Required Associates degree in medical technology/medical laboratory science or applicable biological or life science program with a minimum of 1 year relevant experience with general laboratory processes and techniques Desired Associates degree in medical technology/medical laboratory science or applicable biological or life science program with a minimum of 3 years relevant laboratory experience.

Required Experience with and proper application of the aseptic technique.

Desired Experience in a CAP/CLIA regulated laboratory environment.

Desired 1-2 years tissue culture and/or cell culture experience.
