Job Coach

We are looking for a Job Coach to work in and around the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles.

This opportunity is full-time at 35 hours hours per week.

Our Job Coaches provide support and training for individuals with intellectual disabilities to adapt and learn the job skills needed to be successful in the community.

You will need the following minimum qualifications to be considered:

Must be able to provide proof of being fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
Must clear a current background check through the FBI, DOJ, and Community Care Licensing must be submitted.
CPR/First Aid, health clearance required but can provide in-house CPR training.
Must be willing to complete 3 sessions of a 10-week graduate-level training program as part of the conditions of employment.
Must be able to participate and complete mandatory CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training and be able to utilize all aspects of this training within an instructional setting when necessary.
If you transport clients in company-owned vehicles, you must be willing to participate in transportation training sessions.
A current TB Test (within the last 2 months).
Must have knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Preferred qualifications include:
A.A.

degree preferred, but an individual can be currently enrolled in a training program at college or university level, or have more than 3 years experience and evidence of job-related training.
Must have a valid California Driver’s License in good standing.
Must own a vehicle and possess proof of business-related insurance.
As a Job Coach at IRL, you will:
Provides on and off-site coaching, counseling, and support to individuals with disabilities during the initial months of their employment, or to groups of individuals throughout their employment, in accordance with employer expectations and case manager recommendations.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

The Institute for the Redesign of Learning (IRL) is a multi-service, community-based Special Education, mental health, job development, and training facility for special needs children, students, and adults.

IRL began in 1974 when its founder, Nancy J.

Lavelle, Ph.D., created the Almansor Education Center located in a church on Almansor Street in Alhambra, California.

With a belief that every student has the ability to “take charge” of their own learning process, Dr.

Lavelle established a unique environment, individualized curriculum, and created appropriate support and enrichment services designed to turn student and client learning failures into learning successes.

Now over forty years later, the Institute for the Redesign of Learning offers six programs designed to provide a continuum of care for individuals with Special Needs, ages infants through adults, serving children, students, and clients throughout the greater Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley communities.

Environment & Physical Qualifications: An employee may encounter a noise level that is usually moderate to loud and from time to time and can be emotionally unsettling due to the fact that we work with students who have the potential to act out aggressively.

The work environment is usually comprised of adults, children, and professional staff in an office setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
