Responsibilities This position is responsible for contributing to the CHI Health mission and vision by providing expertise in, and coordination of the program development, policy and procedure review, process improvement, and oversight, as well as prioritizing and monitoring regulatory and accreditory compliance, in the area of Infection Prevention.

All efforts must be done in a coordinated fashion to support the strategic and operational needs of the organization focusing on patient safety, environment of care safety, quality and cost-efficiency.

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Implement’s the division’s planning, documentation, implementation and evaluation of the Infection Prevention Program within the facility for the prevention of infection, including but not limited to Risk Assessments Infection Prevention Plan Program evaluation 2.

Provides consultation to departments, facility leaders, and employees on matters of Infection Prevention implementation, education, outbreaks, and potential transmission of communicable disease.

Leads the facility’s Infection Prevention team in implementation of the division’s best-practices, including leading committees, providing education, facilitating product changes, and implementing policies in the following areas:
• Employee health and safety
• Construction
• Reduction of Healthcare acquired infections
• Investigation and resolution of outbreaks and communicable disease exposures
• Compliance with accreditory and regulatory standard 4.

Ensures the Infection Prevention data prepared and presented to facility committees, leaders, and other key stakeholders is complete, accurate, and timely, including clinical staff, staff, including but not limited to:
• Infection Prevention surveillance software
• NHSN and other reporting software
• reports of quality outcomes 5.

Collaborates with division Infection Preventionists and the division Infection Prevention Coordinator and facility leaders to implement Infection Prevention best-practices within the facility.

Implements policy, procedure, standards, guidelines or training materials consistent with the facility’s needs.

Keeps division Infection Prevention Coordinator and hospital Quality Director informed of important Infection Prevention initiatives, deficiencies, and vulnerabilities.

Qualifications Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska, Iowa or nurse licensure compact.

Licensed Registered Nurse, BSN or BSN must be obtained in 5 years Must be able to effectively operate in a multi-manager supervisory structure.

Must possess strong knowledge of infection principles and strategies, and be well-versed on the ethical implications, clinical ramifications in an adverse healthcare situation; excellent management skills; computer literacy; excellent communication skills; an ability to present complex issues in an understandable fashion; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism and role model; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.

Master’s preferred.

Certified in Infection Prevention and Control (C.I.C.) preferred
