HotNewHipHop is unlike any other online publication. With a cult-like and vocal readership, we have to work at a lightning-fast pace, in order to stay one step ahead of the news cycle and ensure we provide accurate, timely, and engaging stories across a variety of different verticals under the Pop Culture umbrella: from Hip-Hop and R&B music to sports, to movies and TV, and more.
We are seeking aHip-Hop News Writer who is already entrenched in all things Hip-Hop, R&B, pop culture, and online media. This person should have an in-depth knowledge of Hip-Hop and the new artists buzzing right now. This person should be extremely familiar with a variety of social media channels as sources for news, alongside major publications– the ideal candidate already checks these sources daily.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Publish 12 news articles per shift (350-450 words each). The topics will be assigned to you in most cases.
- Self-Edit & ensure SEO, formatting and quality guidelines are followed with every article you publish.
- Work efficiently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Keeping up-to-date with current events and breaking news.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 1 year working experience in an editorial newsroom.
- Your writing is clear, concise, engaging, and requires very little editing.
- You take direction well, always implement feedback, and have strong time management skills
- You have an in-depth knowledge of hip-hop music and/or pop culture, sports, sneakers, streetwear, TV & movies.
- Previous experience working with WordPress and YoastSEO is an asset.
