The Business Development Leader will be responsible for the trade business’s growth with a focus on high-potential accounts in our client’s largest markets, increasing market share and delivering profitable results. This leadership position will coach and direct the activities of the established and successful selling team to achieve or exceed company goals for sales and profitability. This role works in direct partnership with the company’s Sales Leadership to set and influence the short and long-term strategic direction for the management and growth of high-volume, major account business. The Business Development Leader will be the face of the brand in our client’s largest markets, working to foster, cultivate, and grow relationships to drive increased market share and represent luxury design excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Work with Showroom Leadership and Sales Leadership to define and implement growth strategy for the market’s major accounts across all channels
Develop rapport and work closely with the sales team to guide and develop individual associates’ accounts and CRM activity to understand how to grow the business and achieve company goals.
Strategically oversee the account management process, collaborating with Showroom Leadership and other market leaders to ensure trade accounts are properly assigned, serviced, and positioned for growth.
Use company CRM and other company tools to build and maintain active profiles for all major accounts in a market, including client leadership and decision-makers. Coach and manage Sales Consultants to utilize CRM and perform data hygiene/updates in line with company expectations
Create account-specific action plans to drive growth with measurable KPIs and monitor to meet or exceed targets
Build strong and collaborative partnerships with Showroom Leadership and Sales Consultants to maximize sales results, service levels, and coverage.
Actively and consistently attend industry events to identify and secure new trade clients in the respective market area and to connect and interact with current clients to ensure luxury partner connection. Coach and mentor Sales Consultant to do the same
Develop, maintain, and enhance relationships with the trade community directly and through professional groups to increase Waterworks exposure and sales.
Consistently and regularly partner with sales teams to co-market for consistent face-to-face marketing to develop accounts, keep clients updated on new products, build each project with multiple lines of business, and ensure we are consistently growing accounts, and teams are consistently interacting with clients.
Work collaboratively and closely with Showroom Leadership to gain alignment around company goals and initiatives
Assists in the development of cabinetry sales in partnership with team cabinetry experts and Sales Consultants
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
8+ years sales and business development experience across multiple channels in high-end, luxury interior design industry or firm
Intimate knowledge of and existing relationships with high-end industry clients in a covered market
5+ years experience managing experienced sales teams within high-end luxury brand environment
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications: working knowledge and experience with CRM systems
Ability to take charge, drive for results and make sound decisions quickly
Proven excellent leadership skills
Ability to have honest and timely performance conversations with team members with professionalism and respect
Well-connected within the luxury design trade in the covered market
Availability for occasional in-showroom presence, regular attendance at client meetings and industry events, and occasional travel to company headquarters, and other showroom locations
