Humankind Video Producer
This position is specifically for video journalists, not those pursuing broadcast or film careers.
Humankind is a good-news brand launched by the USA TODAY NETWORK, the largest newspaper publisher in the country.

There’s enough bad news out there, join Humankind in telling the country’s most positive, uplifting stories.
We’re looking for a natural-born social media addict and video producer to join Humankind’s team to find, write and socialize stories about acts of kindness, out of the ordinary triumphs and special relationships.

We need someone with the passion to make Humankind’s content successful on our social media channels.
The Humankind Video Producer will work on finding/producing content and socializing/scheduling content.

This person will source new UGC videos of heartwarming stories, conduct interviews, write scripts, and produce content.
They will also work alongside Humankind’s production staff to schedule, manage, optimize and promote multiple videos per day on various social media platforms, specifically Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

The ideal candidate should be excited about interactions, engagement, comments, analytics, developing and executing social campaigns, while at the same time interacting with our followers to keep the conversation around our positive content going.
We’re looking for someone with the unique ability to not only post great content in the social arena, but find great content from the social arena as well.

The ideal Humankind Social Media Producer candidate will also dig into analytics to isolate trends to come up with suggestions for better performance on each platform.

The ideal candidate MUST have social video experience, knowing how to read metrics around video completion rates, optimization, monetization (Facebook mid-roll ads, Twitter Amplify) and crossposting.
The ideal producer candidate is excited to see the brand’s content go viral and passionate about the success of the brand as a whole.

The ideal candidate is a team player with excellent communication skills, is quick to respond and receptive to feedback.
We are open to candidates in Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, or McLean, Virginia.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years’ experience as Writer/Producer.
2+ years of on camera hosting experience.
2+ years of social media producing experience.
Editorial storytelling experience.
Universal Skills and Traits Preferred.
Excellent communications skills, online and in person, with the community and fellow journalists.
Energetic, sincere, and vibrant on camera presence.
Works collaboratively with a passionate and highly motivated team of videographers, reporters, editors and producers.
Experience using After Effects, Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop is a plus.
Working knowledge of the best types of videos for a variety of social media platforms, including TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snap, Instagram.
Employment is contingent on passing a post-offer pre-employment background check.
