Goodwill seeks an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our highly collaborative HR Team. The HR Generalist serves as a primary HR resource, supporting Goodwill SoCal with all aspects of HR including performance management, retention strategy, leave management, HR reporting, rewards and recognition, compensation, benefit incentive programs, employment law, and policy interpretation. Per government requirements, this role required to be fully COVID- 19 vaccinated.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Participates and supports initiatives that drive the Goodwill Southern California mission, culture and effective business operations.
- Collaborates with operations managers and HR Business Partners to provide assistance in all areas of HR including recognition, performance management, retention and employee development, engagement and discipline.
- Ensures compliance by creating and maintaining annual compliance calendar, posting and reporting processes at the local state and federal level.
- Conducts confidential HR counseling, investigations and exit interviews.
- Creates documentation regarding discipline and behavioral issues, which substantiate the facts to defend the organization from potential litigation and invalid unemployment claims.
- Assists in the creation of training and development content. Conducts training as needed.
- Supports Goodwill’s compensation philosophy by assisting with conducting wage surveys, collects wage external and internal data for purpose of recruitment trending, and wage equity studies. Makes compensation suggestions as appropriate.
- Monitors and provides feedback regarding the use of policies and procedures and propose / draft policies updates as needed.
- Establishes and maintains HR documentation and standard operating procedures. Creates reports as assigned/requested.
- Manages engagement survey process, analyzes results, and makes recommendations to improve departments and the organization. Partners with HR team to establish and maintain a positive and visible HR presence throughout the organization.
- Assists in recruitment efforts including new hire and transfer processes, coordination of openings, development of job descriptions, diversity recruitment strategies and recommendations of retention strategies.
- Monitors and provides feedback regarding the use of policies and procedures and propose and draft policies updates as needed.
Education & Experience
- 3 – 5 years of Human Resources experience required. Knowledge of CA state and federal employment laws.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- PHR or equivalent preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with recruitment, training, compensation and benefits administration.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve employee concerns and mediate conflicts.
- Advanced knowledge proficiency of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and E-mail.
- Knowledgeable in Human Resources systems (HRIS).
- Very strong analytical, conceptual thinking, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent oral, written communication and people skills.
- Detail-oriented and have the ability to manage time effectively and work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must have a strong sense of urgency and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and state-required auto insurance.
