HR Coordinator – V assignment

Primary Purpose

Administers and helps lead the recruitment process for union, exempt and nonexempt vacancies throughout the Company and facilitates internal movement through transfers and promotions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the effective administration of the union bid process i.e., HR Position Opportunity System (POS) relating to job promotion and transfer
  • Partners with hiring managers and facilitates the recruitment and selection process for exempt, non-exempt and union positions for assigned client groups by performing the following: Evaluate employment applications and identify qualified applicants; Utilizes online recruiting sources to identify and source candidates; write position advertisements
  • Conducts and trains clients on legally defensible interviews; applies compensation philosophy to determine appropriate offer amount; extend employment offers. Provides guidance and counsel to clients on EEO/Affirmative action issues to ensure workforce diversity
  • Takes appropriate measures to ensure compliance to ADA and company policy to avoid discrimination of disabled employees/applicants (i.e. identify alternate work for disabled employees returning to work) with company negotiated bargaining unit agreements and other state and federal regulations, i.e. EEOC, ADA, FLSA to ensure best hiring practices are enforced
  • Identifies, attends or recommends recruitment functions and networking opportunities in efforts to yield and attract qualified candidates to company. Educates public on employment opportunities, company mission, vision, value and goals.
  • Assume Staffing Advisor responsibilities in absence of Staffing Advisor
  • Research, collect, compile and analyze information from various sources for a variety of specialized highly complex human resources topics within the department, prepare reports which present data and alternatives and recommends solutions to resolve the issues (i.e. tracking systems for quarterly test sessions for internal candidates)
  • Help design and conduct new employee orientation programs; educates new hires on company benefits, policies and procedures and other relevant information
  • Provides work direction to Staffing Assistants/Associates in support of the recruitment and selection process i.e. (oversee the facilitation of pre and post-employment aptitude testing to ensure qualified pool of candidates is achieved. Trains and provides direction of lower level employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

**This position will be filled as a 12 month employment contract**

Qualifications

Education

  • H.S. Diploma/GED High School Diploma or GED certificate. Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree Human Resources, related business field, or equivalent experience or training. Preferred

Experience

2 years – Increasingly responsible experience related to employment/talent acquisition support to include interviewing and/or screening applications. Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Company policies, practices and operations related to employment and the placement of qualified applicants. Beginner
  • Requires analytical ability and judgment in conducting interviews and in screening applicants. Objectivity must be exercised in determining qualifications and recommending selections. Beginner
  • Requires tact, diplomacy and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Intermediate
  • Must have excellent computer skills especially MS Word and Outlook. Intermediate
  • Solid team player and able to work independently. Intermediate
  • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Affirmative Action and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Beginner
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding applicant and employee information and materials. Advanced

Licenses and Certifications

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification desired. Preferred
