Role: HR Assistant

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Contract Duration:  2-6 month contract with a possibility of extension

Pay Rate: $20/hr

Work Schedule: 40hrs/week

Shift:  8am-5pm

Client Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for performing high-level administrative on a professional level in an efficient and effective manner within the Human Resources Department while interacting in a professional, courteous manner with applicant, employees and all members of the public.  Performs general aspects of HR function including employee relations, communication, compliance, HRIS/reports, compensation administration, leave of absence and performance evaluation administration. Responsible for consistently displaying teamwork approach, considering the impact of his/her actions and behaviors on others.

  • Competent in use of office equipment
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and solid understanding of filing systems
  • Ability to perform in an independent manner, anticipating needs of employees, co-workers, and management
  • Careful attention to detail and prompt execution of all work assignments

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of experience in HR serving 500+ employees.
  • Knowledge of employee relations and project management in an HR environment, including considerable knowledge of principles and practices of human resources.
  • Knowledge of FLSA, DOL and other regulatory and compliance requirements related employment law
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex HR projects, employment law, and HR principles to create clear communications for distribution and training (as needed.)
  • Strong computer skills including intermediate or above knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (or equivalent) with an emphasis in Human Resources, Organization Development or other related field (i.e. English, Communications, or Instructional Design.)
  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
  • Expertise in additional areas of HR, including performance management, leaves of absence, prevention and safety, compensation, employment, recruitment, and benefits, or a similar combination of education and experience.
  • Organizational Development experience
  • Prior experience with HRIS/Payroll databases. Experience with Oracle preferred. 
  • HS Diploma, LA City Fire Card, MS Office proficiency, 2 years customer service, and 1 year HR experience REQUIRED.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Spanish/Chinese speaking PREFERRED.
