The Housing Specialist is responsible for assisting families with locating housing units, working closely with landlords, collaborating the Santa Clara County Housing Authority, and providing general housing support to ensure families can secure and maintain housing.

How You Make an Impact: Provide housing placement and assistance for participants with housing vouchers in Santa Clara Countyfocusing on households needs and goals.

Develop and maintain inventory of appropriate units for potential participants.

Network with landlords,renters associations, property management businesses and countywide permanent housing providers.

Guide landlords and tenants to correctly fill out all SCCHA voucher documentation as it relates to themove-in process.

Meet with participants to complete housing assessments and to discuss housing searchparameters and security deposit acquisition as often as needed.

Coordinate unit viewings with owners/participants.

Maintain contact with participants, monitor progress, report and refer to team members as necessary after housing is secured.

How You Meet the Qualifications: High School Diploma Professional experience in the human services or related field and demonstrated experience in rental housing programs for low income, special needs individual and families.

Bilingual applicants highly encouraged to apply especially those fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese.

Minimum of oneto twoyears of experience working in housing field with strong knowledge of theCounty housing market and geography.

Knowledge of federal, state and local fair housing laws.

Strong organizational, detail oriented, and time management skills.

Attentiveness to detail.

Highly motivated, self-directed, flexible, reliable, and collaborative.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Reliable transportation along with valid and current CA Drivers license and insurance is required.

Must also have own transportation for use in carrying out job responsibilities, provide proof of a valid and current CA driver’s license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable DMV report.

Background check is required.
