The Corporate Development team at Riot strives to grow Riot's primary goals through partnerships, investments, and acquisitions.
We conduct research and evaluate games and businesses, conduct due diligence, negotiate deals and manage a portfolio of investments in game studios and companies in the technology, entertainment and esports space.
Recent deals include Riot's investment in Mainframe Industries and the acquisition of Hypixel Studios.
As Riot's Head of Corporate Development, you will report to the Head of Corporate Strategy, and lead Riot's investment and acquisition discipline, guide transactions across game genres and technology sectors, oversee the success of portfolio companies, and create relationships across the industry to gain access to the best investment opportunities.
You will also contribute to Riot's commitment to mature the broader gaming ecosystem, with a focus on identifying, investing in, and supporting underrepresented founders with leadership of the Underrepresented Founders Program.
Responsibilities:
Partner with Riot's executive leadership to understand our needs and promote those goals through a tailored investments and acquisitions strategy
Run the investment and acquisition process end to end – including research, evaluation, recommendation, due diligence, deal negotiations and post-deal integration
Build and lead a team to guide Riot's investments and acquisitions strategy to bolster recruiting, tech adoption, entertainment development and the development and production of genre defining games
Use your network to secure access to the best investment and acquisition opportunities in the industry
Establish and maintain standards and processes for the Corp Dev discipline across Riot, including hiring, evaluation, goals, and career development
Run holistic due diligence across multiple disciplines, coordinating and overseeing cross-functional engineering, game design and product teams in the evaluation of talent, game design, technical, and other diligence areas
Partner with Riot China to develop and execute Riot's investment and acquisition strategy and build our game making capabilities in the region
Oversee the management of Riot's portfolio of investments and acquisitions, including advising on core game strategy and managing any potential integrations to ship
Lead Riot's Underrepresented Founders program by identifying founders, making investments, managing the portfolio, planning workshops, and advising Founders on their journey
Partner with Riot Business Development to identify and work on opportunities for collaboration deal sharing
Originate deals through your own network of founders and investors
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
10+ years of experience working on investments and acquisitions, with 4+ years of experience leading teams
5+ years of experience working in the games, technology or entertainment industry
Experience with deal evaluation and financial modeling, with experience on multiple closed acquisitions
Lead on $50M+ invested
Experience working directly with C-suite executives on deals and reporting
Existing network in the games industry (developers, founders, and startups)
Desired Qualifications:
MBA
Passion for games or entertainment, with an understanding of different genres
Experience working with/on product development teams in the games industry
