AECOM has three (3) positions available for Grid Modernization (Transmission & Distribution) Market Sector Leaders.
These are senior level positions within our Energy business for which AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States however the selected candidate should have strong relevant knowledge, experience and networks.
The primary clients these leaders will work with will be utilities, renewable energy developers, financial institutions, and other large public and private customers.
The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the regional growth strategy for AECOM’s grid modernization market for its energy business.
The leader will define the growth plans for grid modernization and cultivate private and public client relationships that result in business growth primarily associated with transmission and distribution (T&D), but may ultimately include renewable energy, distributed energy resources, decarbonization and electrification.
Candidate will focus on developing businesses to provide technical services supporting regional clients by providing planning, compliance management, engineering, project management, program and construction management.
Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation, an acute passion for developing solutions, a current understanding of local and regional regulatory structures and system operators, knowledge of the current pipeline of regional utility modernization projects and the ability to collaborate with a strategic interdisciplinary team of business development (BD) and operations professionals
The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Develop and implement multi-year grid modernization growth strategy, including development of key performance metrics, account plans, service offerings, market trend analysis and brand elevation/thought leadership.
Intimate knowledge of the T&D project pipeline in the region and understanding of the local ISO processes and procedures
Existing relationships with regional private and public electricity utilities, commercial and industrial clients, and developers.
Identify, develop, and propose new grid modernization projects; negotiating partnerships and alliances; structuring and closing transactions; managing senior-level relationships internally and externally; and maintaining a sharp focus on client satisfaction throughout project/program lifecycle
Build collaborative and cross-region solutions for the energy business clients and with other AECOM business lines
Develop a plan to attract new business and clients
Help recruit and build a team of business/project development and delivery/management professionals to support the growth strategy
Establish and develop relationships with regional public utilities, investor owned utilities, developers, contractors and municipalities
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education and must include 2 years of leadership.
Advanced degrees in engineering or business a plus.
Detailed knowledge of the grid modernization, utility and distributed energy resource markets as well as policy and market trends supporting the upgrades to the grid infrastructure
Demonstrated networking capabilities with public and private clients, power and energy industries, from inception through contract award and implementation
An understanding of multiple project delivery/financing methods and the associated risks and benefits of each.
Specific experience a plus.
Must be willing to travel as needed/requested
Pre-employment motor vehicle driving record verification will be conducted
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in engineering or business is preferred
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and rate for distribution utilities within the region
Knowledge of tax and other financial incentives for renewable energy growth
Experience closing and implementing program management and owners engineer assignments for energy portfolios and investors
Strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, collaboration and leadership skills
Participation in professional organizations like IEEE PES , NEEP, SEPA
Proven expertise in business development and market strategy development/execution with demonstrated revenue achievement
Demonstrated successful financial closing of multiple energy programs and consulting projects (e.g.
transmission and distribution, distributed energy resources and renewables)
Focus on the Regional geographies include the Northeast, Southeast/Mid Atlantic and South West
