Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is hiring Mid-Level and Senior Industrial Engineers to support the Disruptive Computing & Networks (DC&N) program in El Segundo, CA! This role is responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI) manufacturing and taking electronic assemblies from prototype (XVT) to mass production (MP) build quantities and quality levels.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies industrial engineering concepts, approaches and techniques to product, process and services to meet program requirements.
  • Develops plant and equipment layouts, capacity plans, accident prevention measures, sequencing of operations and work flows.
  • Evaluates new techniques and technological developments for integration into the production process and service operations.
  • Designs, maintains, and optimizes the production system by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel.
  • Conducts work flow design and analysis.
  • Develops models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to leaders and customers. Researches, designs, develops, improves, and implements processes and tools to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.
  • Develops and implements plans and programs for facility/factory modifications and revisions to operating methods.
  • Supports execution planning by using project management, planning and scheduling and shop load practices. Provides production, supply chain logistics, performance visibility and recovery planning support.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s or Masters of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Experience working in a production and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing an automated process to support electronics assembly manufacturing.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) manufacturing and taking electronic assemblies from prototype (XVT) to production build quantities and quality levels.
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) for bringing a process within specification limits or establishing limits for a new process.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with applying LEAN manufacturing, root cause analysis, structured problem solving and improvement projects.
  • Proficient in developing project schedules and resource analysis.
  • Experience with process modeling.
  • Experience with new equipment Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) development and execution, as well as Gauge Reliability and Repeatability (GR&R) testing for validation of automated equipment.
  • Experience with developing Acceptable Quality Levels (AQL), performing Defect Pareto analysis and Yield Bridging exercises to drive processes to MP ready yields.
  • Electrical CAD experience (Mentor Graphics, Allegro, Altium) for designing adapter electronics or custom sensor electronics for automated processes and equipment.
  • Mechanical CAD experience (Creo, Solidorks, NX, Catia) for designing tools, fixtures, end effectors, and other support equipment for automated processes and equipment.
  • Experience with automation software development (LabVIEW, MATLAB, python, C++, etc.) and software version control management in a production environment (GitHub, etc.).
  • Experience with precision alignment systems for microelectronics mechanical assembly.

Typical Education/Experience: 

Mid-Level (Level 3):

Bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4):

Bachelor’s degree and typically 9 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a Master’s degree with typically 7 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:

Mid-Level: 92,650 – 125,350

Senior: 109,650 – 148,350
