Golden Legacy Care Center The primary purpose of your job position is to provide assistance in all dietary functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with current Federal, State and Local standard guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure the quality nutritional services and established dietary policies and procedures are provided on a daily basis.Job Summary: Complete nutritional initial, annual and significant change reviews on residents according to federal and state guidelines.

Review monthly and weekly weights to determine those residents which have had a significant change.

Complete nutritional reviews monthly on high risk residents (significant weight loss/gain, pressure ulcer, hemodialysis, and tube fed).

Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans in order to develop and implement dietary care plans and provides nutritional counseling as needed.

Attends and participates in care plan conferences, Quality Assurance, and other clinical meetings as directed.

Consult with physicians and other health care personnel (Nurse Practitioners, Dialysis Dietitians, etc.) to determine diet restrictions and nutritional needs of residents.

Assist in coordination of nutrition care services with the Dietary Supervisor.

Attends and participates as needed in morning meeting/ stand up to facilitate communication with the team.

Monitor food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation and quality standards, as well as, state and federal regulations.

Monitor food control systems such as food temperatures, portion control, preparation methods, garnishment and presentation of food in order to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner.

Inspect diet trays for conformance to physician’s diet orders prior to delivery.

Monitor the facility’s compliance with Federal and State regulations and advise the Administrator on a monthly basis of any deviation from said regulations.

Make recommendations to the Dietary Manager with plans for implementation of corrective actions and revise the dietary policies and procedures to comply with applicable regulations.

Utilize industry approved therapeutic diets and regular diets to meet the specialized needs of geriatric and physically impaired persons.

Develop and implementing continuing education programs for dietary services and nursing personnel.

Advise Dietary Manager on budgeting, purchasing food and supplies.

Advise Dietary Manager on institutional food preparation, sanitation, service, and storage, to assure that meals are served which are palatable, attractive, nutritionally adequate at proper temperatures, and appropriate times.

Assist Dietary Manager in planning and modifying menus to assure food is of sufficient variety and nutritional content to satisfy the preferences of residents and meet their nutritional needs.

Visit with residents on a regular basis.

Assess nutritional needs and intake, develop nutritional goals, and provide counseling to residents and their families concerning normal and/or therapeutic diets and interpreting their needs.

Completes nutritional assessments, dietary histories, care plans and progress notes in accordance with the policy of the facility and accepted professional practice and State and Federal requirements.

Integrate the dietary aspect of patient care through communication and sharing of specialized information with the medical and nursing staffEducation:Must possess, as a minimum, Bachelor’s Degree in Food & Nutrition.Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and licensed in Nutrition/Dietetics as required by the applicable state.Qualifications:Ability to read, speak and understand EnglishAbility to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actionAbility tofollow oral and written instructionsAbility to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governement agencies/ personnel and the general publicAbility to move intermittently throughout the day
