Genomics Technology Scientist

Responsibilities

UCLA has developed a next generation sequencing-based technology for COVID-19 diagnostic testing and is looking for a Genomic Technology Scientist.

You will work on genomic technology to support and expand the Swab-Seq platform, apply the technology to testing services and expand the technology to other translational research projects.

Under the guidance of the Core Director, you will also help develop and conduct new protocols and applications and assist with the implementation of new laboratory development projects and supervise existing lab personnel.

Qualifications

Required:
Experience working with sequencing technology.
Strong background in the field of NGS technologies.
Wide range of molecular biology skills, including DNA and RNA extraction, reverse transcription, in vitro transcription, PCR, QRT-PCR.
Demonstrated lab supervisory skills.
Experience in culture tissue procedures.
Ability to perform gel electrophoresis.
Ability to perform RNA analysis.
Ability to organize raw data into relevant format.
Experience tissue culture, cell maintenance type work as well as cell proliferations assays.
Skills in isolation of biological materials, (DNA, RNA and protein) from tissues and cell lines as well as the cataloging and management of resources using relational computer database.
